It was great to see so many of our young people in our celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day.
Especially with this year’s theme, “We are the Elders of tomorrow, hear our voice”.
During the Homily, Fr Darryl invited the children to join him at the front of the Church for a yarn, they had a great discussion about the importance of Elders within our families and communities.
Fr Darryl then asked Aunty Diat what is her role as an Elder? Her response to the children was that “as an Elder it is our role to share the cultural knowledge, language and to love and guide our loved ones from our lived experiences.
We also had the honour of John Burland performing three of his original songs.
